HALAL STATUS UPDATE:

All our Blackmores products sold in Malaysia have been certified halal by Al-Iman Islamic Society Incorporated Australia (formerly known as Islamic Co-ordinating Council of Australia Inc). The halal certificates are valid until October 2014 and will be renewed yearly to maintain our halal standard.

Al-Iman Islamic Society Inc. has investigated the Blackmores plant and is satisfied that they are free of any impurities prohibited under Islamic Law. Al-Iman Islamic Society grants the site plant HALAL status. Muslims and non-Muslims can consume products Halal Certified with satisfaction. Al-Iman Islamic Society Inc is recognized by Jakim, Malaysia as a certified halal governing body from Australia. (www.halal.gov.my)

Please note that we will not be renewing halal certificates for the following products for the reasons stated below:

  1. Bio Zinc – we are not applying for a halal certificate for this product as we are looking into a new formulation soon. It does not contain alcohol or porcine ingredients in the formula.

  2. Bilberry – we are not applying for a halal certificate for this product as we are looking into a new formulation soon. It does not contain alcohol or porcine ingredients in the formula.

  3. Bio Calcium – due to vitamin D3 in this formula. This D3 source is from lanolin. Lanolin is a by-product of sheep wool. If Muslims consider sheep wool is non-halal then they should not take this product. This is a common source of D3 in the health supplement market. Lanolin is used in many beauty care and hair care products and also body care products. We are looking into applying for the halal certificate now. It does not contain alcohol or porcine ingredients in this formula.

  4. Bio Magnesium Plus – same reason as Bio Calcium. It has vitamin D3 in product. It does not contain alcohol or porcine ingredients in this formula.

  5. Teen Multi for Girls – due to small amounts of ethanol in one of the ingredients. It does not contain porcine ingredients in this formula.

  6. Echinacea Liquid – due to the extraction and preservation process of the herb Echinacea which has ethanol. It does not contain porcine ingredients in this formula.

  7. Acidobiphilus Bifidus – we changed source recently and it is not halal certifiable at the moment. So we are looking into a new formulation very soon. It does not contain alcohol and porcine ingredients in this formula.
